Lullaby Concert, Child Development Resource Center, The University of Alabama

The goal of the 3rd Annual Lullaby Concert was to bring families together. The University of Alabama’s Child Development Resources hosted a Lullaby Concert from 5:15pm to 6:15 pm Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017. The free community event was designed for parents and children, birth to 5, to enjoy music and reading together. My responsibilities for this project was to provide developmentally appropriate music via guitar, music and movement to infants, toddlers, and preschool age children from Tuscaloosa and neighboring counties in order to engage families in activities with children.

Alabama Positive Behavior Support Office, The University of Alabama

The Alabama Positive Behavior Support Office defines, develops, implements and evaluates a multi-tiered approach to helping schools. The goal is to positively impact emotional, social and academic outcomes for all students. Lee Johnson III, is one of the many graduate research assistants, that work with Birmingham city schools to implement the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports framework, a model established by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs.

First3Years is a statewide organization working to raise awareness of the critical importance of the first three years of life. Our mission is to educate, advocate and collaborate to advance the healthy development of infants and toddlers. The First3Years Advancement team worked with producer Ginny Martin and several partners: ChildCareGroup, Bock Center, Yanetta Newton, Crystal Wallace, Joy Campbell, Maggie Swick, Baby Henry, Juanita Monturo, Patty Miller, Lee Johnson, Barbara Einsohn, Sadie Funk, and Isabel Tanco - without whom this First3Years video would not be possible.

National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. | CHES Designation

The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. provided a list of those who earned the district title of Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) in the Spring 2016 examination. Lee Johnson III now joins a class of more than 11,500 active CHES promoting public health education.

Lee Johnson III was a guest speaker for First3Years' Food for Thought Series. His session provided participants with information and tools for integrating music into an early childhood setting with children that have experienced trauma.

The Lullaby Concert is a free event sponsored by Child Development Resources and PNC Bank Foundation. The purpose of the event is to provide enjoyable entertainment for families in the community. Lee Johnson III provided live children's music through guitar playing and singing.

Vogel Alcove Child Center for the Homeless: Age-Appropriate Enrichment

Day One Dalles was a teacher-designed activity event that offered a fun environment for children to enjoy.  Johnson provided therapeutic songs of connection to children that attended Day One Dallas on New Year's Day.

First3Years, Expert Webinar Session

Lee Johnson III, M.A., CHES, IMH-E® will be conducting an Expert Webinar on Music, Movement and Myelination and will discuss the relationships between developmental domains and brain development. Movement is key for stimulating brain development in young children and this presentation will discuss research as related to cognitive developmental benefits for infants and toddlers.
